    B-MOVIE BINGO: AMERICAN HUNTER

    American HunterAMERICAN HUNTER (1988)
Showing on Tuesday 3/1/2016 at The Hollywood Theatre

In AMERICAN HUNTER, Chris Mitchum stars as Jake Carver, an Interpol agent and martial arts expert. While on a mission to recover microfilm that holds information that can destroy Wall Street, he meets an adversary’s secretary and falls in love with her. She is subsequently kidnapped at least four times. His nemesis, Adam (non-contact karate star Bill “Superfoot” Wallace), has a pet falcon and monkey, and can often be seen in a sweat suit. This movie is action-packed with plenty of car chases, kidnappings, denim, and Chris Mitchum on a motorcycle. The most boring part is a ten minute helicopter chase that ends in total anti-climax. Directed by Indonesian action master Arizal.

    B-MOVIE BINGO: SFX RETALIATOR

Showing Tuesday 11/6/2012 at The Hollywood Theatre

***Election Night “Future Congressman” Chris Mitchum Showcase***
Note: We recently found out that Mitchum recently ran for US Congress.  Even though he didn’t win, let’s celebrate by watching one his finest films!

What happens when you double cross two crime bosses at the same time?  Special effects retaliation, of course!  In SFX Retaliator, Chris Mitchum (the blonde-haired son of legend Robert Mitchum) is Steve Baker, a movie special effects coordinator who drives a blue truck that has “Steve Baker FX” painted on the side.  He’s the only character in the movie who has a name, and it’s easy to remember because it’s on the side of his truck.  He becomes entangled with Linda Blair, who has just stolen a million dollars from a mob boss, when he accidentally runs her over with his truck as she flees from henchmen with machine guns.  Seeing a damsel in distress, he gives her a ride back to town.  When the mob boss, played by Gordon Mitchell, gets wind of this, he kidnaps Mitchum’s wife as revenge, and… well, it doesn’t really matter.  The main thing to keep in mind is that by the end of the movie, Mitchum has built a tank out of plywood.

We’ve got some awesome movie prizes lined up, and we’re debuting two new squares inspired by SFX Retaliator: “KILL YOUR OWN MEN” and “SHOOT AT OR FROM MOVING VEHICLE”.  Things to look for: a bullet-spraying cobra and a “haunted house” home alarm system, and Chris Mitchum’s lone facial expression: boredom.

    B-MOVIE BINGO: ANGEL OF FURY

B-Movie Bingo: Angel of FuryANGEL OF FURY (1992)
Showing Tuesday 2/7/2012 at The Hollywood Theatre

Hell has no fury… like a security firm courier scorned!   International martial arts star Cynthia Rothrock is Nancy Bolan, whose sole mission is to deliver a top-secret computer for a large security organization.  Housed within a silver briefcase, the computer’s purpose is unknown.  Enter “Bolt” (aka “Zartan”), who is referred to as “The Terrorist Who Strikes Like Lightning“.  He also happens to be a master of disguise and a beefcake.  It turns out that he wants the computer too, and is hot on Nancy’s trail, intercepting her multiple ingenious, and yet failure-prone delivery attempts.  The venerable Peter O’Brian, best known for his career-defining roles as The Stabilizer and Rambu, chews up the scenery as Bolt, in his sixth and final film role before returning to his previous life as an English teacher.

Rothrock is in top form as a tough, “I’m gonna kill you”, no-nonsense agent.  Things to watch out for include: a post-computer delivery failure shopping spree, Rothrock’s insane, indescribable kick from a dirt bike through a van’s windshield (and then back again), bizarre editing and dialogue, guys who don’t know how to hold guns, and Peter O’Brian’s face.  This movie is PURE BINGO!!!!

One thing that we like about this movie is that the screenplay was written by Chris Mitchum, son of Robert Mitchum!
